In India, Karuna-Shechen has operated as a humanitarian agency in the state of Bihar for the last twelve years. At the end of 2013, it was decided to expand our activities into other regions of India ...
Philosophical colleges, monastic schools, as well as monasteries and nunneries, are major places of education and cultural preservation that also provide essential social services and moral support to their Himalayan communities.
Karuna-Shechen sponsors individual male and female students in their studies and contemplative practices. We support community meeting halls, philosophical colleges, nunneries, retreat centers, and traditional art and crafts in an effort to preserve Tibet’s spiritual heritage.

Karuna-Shechen partners with Shechen Publication to edit and print the Rinchen Terdzo, the largest of the Five Treasuries compiled by Jamgon Kongtrul. With the support of the Tsadra Foundation, sixty of the seventy volumes have been printed so far.
Our co-founding partner, Dilgo Khyentse Fellowship, handles other spiritual and cultural heritage projects.
